I currently work in a call center doing tech support for a gaming console. Our callcenter is not managed by the company that makes the console, but by a third party. This third party's management is going waaaaaaaaaaay down hill, so many of my co-workers are looking for new jobs.
Alot of my co-workers are applying to work for the Apple call center in Austin. However, my fiance is dead set against me having another call-center job, as he believes they are the most unstable jobs on the planet. How can I talk him into it? Here are some of the benefits I've heard so far: -4 weeks of paid training -start out at $12/hr (I currently make $10.50 an hour, and that's after being promoted twice) -no dress code (this include unnatural hair colors and coming to work in PJ's -your own cubicle that you can decorte however you want -20 calls at most on busy days Is this true? If any current or former employees could tell me about their experiences with Apple, it'd be greatly appreciated. |

I know people who work in the Apple call center, and those that don't mind call center jobs enjoy it. If you don't mind changing schedules, working holidays, etc, then it can be a good place to work.
You have to stick it out for a whole year I've heard, before you will have the chance of being hired on permanently. Temp work is unstable by nature, but the job you've got now sounds pretty bad, so why not at least try to get the job at apple in the meantime, while you are trying to figure out what kind of job you do want? You'll be making more money and probably under less stress. If you want to stay in customer service, you'd be a lot better off spending your time working towards a perm job at Apple instead of the place you're at now. |
