Default Has anyone ever stayed at the Omni Austin Southpark? Or the Sheraton Austin Hotel?

This is not the one downtown but about a 5 min drive away. Is it a good hotel? Is the one downtown better?I am looking for something fairly nice/luxurious. What about the Sheraton Austin Hotel? I am planning on attending Austin City Limits and am trying to figure out where to stay! Any help would be great! Thanks =)
Would you say that the San Jose is at least a four start hotel? It looks pretty cool, but I don't want to end up staying at a place like Courtyard Marriott.. ya know. Also, I've read online that the Omni Southpark is old and dirty.. any comments on that? That one has the best deal, which is why I'm leaning toward it. Thanks so much for your help!!

The Omni at Southpark is okay, but it is more than 5 minutes from downtown - more like 10-15 minutes or even longer during rush hour commutes. The one downtown might be a better option for you since it is more centrally located.

The Sheraton is about the same quality as both of the Omni Hotels, but you may prefer its central location over the Southpark area.

Have you considered the San Jose Hotel on South Congress? While it is a little more trendy, it may have more of the atmosphere/ambiance and location you are looking for. Its standard room rates are comparable if not lower than those of the Sheraton and Omni; plus, you can get a more personalized experience and avoid any business conference or convention crowds that the other places are generally chopped full of.

I hope this helps. See you at ACL!

***Update - Sorry for my delay in responding to your additional questions. Yes, I would consider the San Jose a 3 - 4 star experience, but it is a little hard to gauge exactly because it is a unique place and really can't be compared to any national hotel/motel chain. No, it is nothing like a courtyard marriott, and compared to the others, I think it has more charm and ambiance. The Omni at Southpark is older and may be a bit more worn than the one downtown because it is used regulary for conferences/conventions, but I wouldn't classify it as being dirty. I am not sure if these were mentioned before or not, but you may also want to consider the Four Seasons downtown or the Mansion at Judges Hill. Good luck!
