at night in austin... well austin is a college town so basically its all about clubs and bars and getting drunk. there are coffee shops too as for tours theres the austin duck tours and you can do a horse and carriage ride downtown. food well depending on what you want posse east is the best place for burgers in my book. double daves or connans for good local pizza. kirby lane cafe has awesome chips and queso. trudys is very popular but always packed.

Ya gotta see the UT Tower and check out the bullet holes that are still there...just be polite about the matter, since several people in the town are still hurt by the tower sniper some years back, but it worth it to know what has changed since then and what the real damage was.

While you're in Austin take an hour or so trip south and see the Alamo.

There are great views along the different bridges. 6th street is always alive on weekends and there is a pizza place on 6th street that is the best pizza ever made. It is just a slit in the window where you pay and get your food but it is the best, I swear.

If everything else fails, check out the batcave. Mexican freetail Bats have found a huge home that has gained national/global publization in the last 20 years. People gather at dusk just to watch them fly out. It is a huge ordeal. Just read the paper to know when and where.

Go to Trudy's to eat. Corner of Burnet and 183, its super yummy.

There are lots of neat sites in downtown Austin, on the Campus. Here are a few things I would suggest:

-Capital Tour
-Swimming at Barton Springs
-Historcal 6th Street (you can go at night if you're at least 18)
-UT Tower
-Bob Bullock Museum
-Austin History Center
-LBJ Library
Lady Bird Johnson Wildlife Center
(The Governer's Mansion was pretty good...it just burned down)
-Texas Military Forces Museum
-Go see the Bats (under the Congress Street Bridge...this happens nightly at sundown, really a neat sight!)
-Volente Beach is fun
-Wild Basin Reserve
-You can take a SEGWAY tour of downtown Austin
