Dallas is freaking awesome, it's a large city with a small town feel. It is also one of the best economic areas in the nation. The economy does crap everywhere else and the Dallas area still does well. Downtown sucks, but the city as a whole is very family friendly. Hardly any humidity and the weather is fantastic.
Austin is a huge city with an awesome music scene and a great downtown. It is also home to a huge university, so there are many people there. Humidity is terrible there. San Antonio is alright to visit, but i'm not a huge fan of it. |

This is a no brainer. Depending on how big of a city you want to live in San Antonio is the best, you have the beautiful river walk near the Alamo. When I was in basic training for the Air Force I only got to spend one day in San Antonio, but I have traveled back and forth since.
Ft. Worth is a stop to get to San Antonio and Austin is nothing but a very big drug city, but your economy and renting is lower in Austin than San Antonio. Dallas of course is the place in Texas if you love football go there, if not then don't b/c there is not a lot of technology jobs or nursing jobs as well. Even though Austin has it's bad parts, it's the cheapest place to live out of all three, I have two cousins who live in Austin and they are bartenders and make a good living. There rent is only $700.00 a month and they have a nice studio apartment and it's more northern but every city in Texas has it's humidity. Check out this site to help answer any other questions you may have. Glad to be of assistance, and good luck finding a change in living, I'm lookin for the same. Ace of the Deck. |

It completely depends on what you do.
And I'll only speak for DFW & Austin. And of that, the IT sector. It goes without saying that if you're in healthcare, it's an open door. Right now Ft Worth is experiencing a larger growth than Dallas. Mostly in the cheaper outer areas. On the very bright side there is an insane amount of things to do in DFW. Dallas is still viable but it can be rough. Right now there's an oddly large number of jobs coming out recently despite the apparent lead to a recession. Lots of stuff to do here. But lots of crazy traffic throughout DFW. I personally really dig Austin and would move there if certain things were different. Small college town feel mixed with good music scene. On the bad traffic is really screwed. And the number of IT professions relative to the population is whacked so the $$$ might not be right. (DFW is like that, but not as bad.) Good luck. |
