There are too many variables to consider, like education, experience, and actual location (there are different areas within Atlanta that may earn more, or less than neighboring areas).
Visit these two links to personalize your info and get a more accurate number, as opposed to answers here, good luck! :) http://www.salary.com http://www.payscale.com |

Go to the state's human resources or law enforcement webpages.
In my state, cops are in the gravy with a starting salary in the mid-$40s, nice raises, all teh free gas they want to burn, free car, free dog with all expenses paid, allotment for meals, insurance, retirements, and all starting with a mere high school degree. All the life-risking, fast driving hoopla is just in movies, the job is pretty boring and paperwork over 90% of the time... Not bad! |

The Atlanta City police make in the low to mid 40's.
But there are dozens of departments in Atlanta, Each university has its own police department, the Farmers market has its own police, the Federal Reserve has its own police, each city around Atlanta have thier own police, The county has a police dept and a sheriff department, The court system has it s own police ( marshall) Some of the lower paying departments in the Atlatna area pay as low as 8 dollars a hour, with other departments paying in the mid 30's to 40's And for the poor uninformed people, while Atlanta does have good pay, almost none of the departments allow a take home car, While Atlanta does, many of the smaller department offer no insurnce or benifits. They don't get a take home dog, Many places around Atlanta do allow nice discounts on meals |
