Fayetteville, Ga to Atlanta airport without interstate?

I know that it is possible. And I just went to the airport 2 weeks ago in standstill traffic on I75. Don't want to deal with that again.
I think that I can take W Fayetteville Rd (314) to Riverdale Rd which leads straight into the airport. Am I correct?
If not, is there an alternate route that won't have me ending up in downtown Atlanta in the wee morning hours, lost and missing my flight?
Any help is appreciated. I'll be traveling alone, so I really don't want to end up lost and unable to find somewhere open to ask for directions.

go down 85 north till u see the airport exit. i live n fayette
yea u can take 314 but ur gonna end up taking 85 ne ways

You can take hwy 85 (rdale rd.) north all the way up till you get to an intersection where there is a krispy kreme and a car lot (right side). make a left. follow that to a lite. Make a right. Take that road all the way out and it will lead you to the back end of the airport. Just follow signs or you could ask someone at a gas station. I know the way but no street names so I don't want to confuse you.
