When in Rome, do as Romans do! The same applies to China! Appreciate, respect the local people, culture and history.
There is always difference regarding the culture, and people for travelers regardless where you go. That's the beauty of travel!! Relax and enjoy! Enjoy your trip to China! |

That you are traveling to a country that in many ways is Third World in what it offers. For instance, toilets, you may not find always toilets you can sit down on, you will have to squat to do number 2. You will not always find toilet paper in the public restrooms, so carry some tissues with you always. Not everyone speaks english so, it would be nice to know some basic phrases and to boot, some of the local dialects are not easily understood by your translator. Also, a reason to keep tissues with you, there may not always be a napkin when you sit down to eat. Oh yes, hotels wise what we think is 3 star or 4 star may not be the same. The hygiene or sanitary standards are not the same so, watch where and what you eat.
Have fun and have a good trip. |

you don't need american money, they don't use it. you can use your check card at a bank of china atm. don't exchange money with the locals, it's probably counterfeit. and when someone asks you if you want a rolex, the answer is wo bu you.......( i don't want it) keep your walled where you can feel it, there are many pick pockets. keep your camera handy, there are many beautiful things in china. keep your passport handy, you may need it. find the phone number of the american embassy, they'll help you if you need them. don't forget the visa, single entry if you are only going into and out of china once or multiple entry if you plan to go to hong kong from china and back again. respect them and they'll respect you. hotels have people that speak english, somewhat. have fun, i did.
