I'm from China. A college graduated girl. Now I'm working in China. But I do not like this job. Last year I went to the USA as a trainee and worked on horticulture. I 'm thinking to go to the United Kingdom for a program named Work and Travel. That's not too long and not too expensive, right? My major is Business English. It also can be called Foreign Trade English. I'm wondering who can help me and the way should be cheap.

There are two work permit routes. The first, Tier 1, Highly Skilled Worker has tough qualifying conditions. You need a minimum of a Masters degree from an educational establishment recognised by the Home Office and to have been earning the equivalent of £20,000 in 12 months of the last 15 months before applying.
The second is Tier 2, Sponsored Skilled Worker. For this route you will need to find an employer willing and able to sponsor you for a job on the Shortage Occupations list, or one for which he has advertised for six weeks in the UK and EU and had no suitably qualified candidates apply. This is very unlikely in the current economic climate. The Work and Travel Programme is only open to people who do not need a visa to live and work in the UK. You would not be eligible for it. The Working Holidaymaker, Gap Year and Au Pair routes were all closed down in November 2008. I believe that New Zealand has a working holiday scheme that is open to China. You could try that. |

Maggie is right
You can come here as a journalist (freedom of the press) or as the representative of the company for whom you work. That would be cheapest because they would pay your fare. Both will be rare opportunities you would have to seek employment for in China. Please take care. There are those who will pretend to offer you work or a visa wanting to exploit you either by taking money from you or getting involved with illegal work. I can tell you that there are a lot of British people who would love to visit China and see the wonderful historic places there, I feel sure that there is a great future for the Chinese tourist industry. Is there any way you can get involved with that? Sorry you do not like your job but to be sure, you are not alone. People in all the world are glad to have any job at all at the moment. |
