my nurse didn't sterilise my arm before she jabbed me and when I asked her why she said that bacteria are more likely to infect a cut when it's wet than dry. Is this true?

Her statement may be true, but that is no reason not to sterilize your skin before injecting into it.

To translate - She forgot. It is standard worldwide practice to kill the bacteria with alcohol immediately preceding an injection.

I'd be very concerned if I were you. That is not standard medical practice in any country. Have you mentioned this to the doctor or hospital?

The needle and your arm where she injected you should have been sterilized.To sterilize after the injection really not going to do you any good when bacteria is already in your arm.
