I am traveling to Mongolia and have to make a stop in China both ways- do I still need a Chinese visa?
All the tickets I've seen to Mongolia from Korea, and back, would have me do a stopover in Beijing between flights. The stop over is quite long- a 12 to 14 hour wait- but I do not plan on leaving the Peking airport; I just need to wait in the airport until my connecting flight.
Does anyone know from experience- do I still need a visa, even though I am not exiting the airport and traveling around China?

I went to www.travel.state.gov and the phrase that worries me is this one:
"Visas are required to transit China. Persons transiting China on the way to and from Mongolia or North Korea or who plan to re-enter from the Hong Kong or Macau Special Administrative Regions should be sure to obtain visas allowing multiple entries."
When they say transiting, I don't know if that includes my situation as well.
I'm buying my ticket online, so I can't call a travel agent, and when I tried calling the Chinese embassy I got an automatic message, so I just sent them an e-mail.
