Im a us citicen traveling to philippines I have a stop at Shanghai in China do I need a transit visa?

I will only be at the airport for 2hrs than I leave to manila
how can I check out if I need a transit visa so I don't get into truble

as long as you dont leave the international area you'll be ok

just go where you're allowed to as stated above. with that amount of time, just spend it inside the airport or whatever. China is amazing.

As a transit passenger you will not be allowed to leave the transit area of the airport anyway. Depending on whether you arrive at Pudong or Hongqiao there's a lot to see (Pudong) or you're condemned to boredom (Hongqiao). But in Hongqiao then you can amaze yourself about how airports once used to be... it's not the most modern one to say the least.

Don't worry, planes usually are a bit late so those 2 hours are probably no more than 1 and half at the most, so basically it's just time for a coffee (or tea) and a snack.
