should i tell my doctor that i'm traveling through Asia in 10 months?

Hi I'm a junior in high school and next year for our senior trip, we're going on a mission trip to Thailand, china, Japan and i think a couple other coutries. I was wondering if i needed to consult my physician about the dangers of parsites or disease. We'll be in somewhat rural areas some of the time i think, and i would rather not get sick on my senior trip! Are there any pills that i should ask about? We'll be going next November, in about 10 months, so when should i talk to my doctor?

Yes, tell your doctor about your trip and he should know if you need any immunizations. Since you will be in rural areas, you might need some shots, etc. Talk to your doctor and he can advise you.

i lived in japan for over 2years and there and have been to other countries in asia. you wont need to get any shots. contrary to what people think, they are pretty clean countries. thailand is the one you have to worry about its not to the extent of getting shots. just drink bottled water
