I would choose Hong Kong. Hong Kong is bigger. A lot more to see. Hong Kong has a lot of smaller islands where you can visit and enjoy the beaches and the different cultures within HK culture. Aside from shopping, there are certainly a lot more to do and see in Hong Kong then in Singapore. I like Singapore too. It is very clean and organized. I think it is better than Hong Kong in terms of the air quality and the environment. But Singapore is much smaller. You drive from one end of Singapore to the other end in less than one hour.
I have visited both places and love both about a dozen times each both for business and for pleasure. I do seem to have more things to do in Hong Kong. It will take you at least a week to see all of Hong Kong. I like Hong Kong International airport better than Singapore's especially for lay over. There are a lot more restaurants and shops at the HK airport. Good luck and enjoy. |

Both places are good and fun to visit; I would visit both places if I were you.
I would say Singapore if you have to choose one to go first only because Singapore is smaller. It will give you a basic taste of Asia first before you explore other Asian countries. Plus most people in Singapore speak English; it is really a big helps for first time Asia visitors. |

I would definitely choose Hong Kong for it's great shopping malls, street markets, fantastic Cantonese cuisine, tourist attractions and beautiful weather.
As for Airport, I would choose Changi as it was voted one of the best airport in the world. I would recommend Malaysia's KLIA (Kuala Lumpir International Airport) too as it's really ultra-modern and huge. |
