By train.
Within the airport building you will find stairs down to the platforms of the railway station. The trains leave often, about every 10 minutes during daytime. You will need to buy a ticket before you go to the platform, from the ticket machines that will cost you €3.90, from the ticket windows a little more. The train will take 15 to 20 minutes and brings you to Centraal station Amsterdam. For more info about Amsterdam, see this site: http://www.amsterdam.info/ By bus will not be much cheaper, if any, and will take much longer. |

Easiest and cheapest both happen to be the train. Taxi or bus is a ridiculous suggestion when you are in Holland. The trains leave from under the terminal.
The train to Centraal goes very regularly and costs a couple of quid and takes a very short time. It takes you right into the centre of town, which would take forever in a cab or on the bus. |

The train station is attached to the airport so just follow the signs. The ticket will be about 4 euros and takes about half an hour. Everyone speaks very good English over there so dont be afraid to ask anyone for help, they are all very helpful!
Once you get to Amsterdam Centraal Station has a tourist information centre right opposite who are also very helpful. When I used them they booked me a good hotel, sold me tram tickets to last the duration I was there and maked some places of interest on a map. One word of warning for when you are there - watch out for the bikes!!! |
