Default Can you smoke in the Amsterdam hotels?

I know some allow you but can you in the Tulip Inn (Amsterdam Centre)??
Thanks!
Well I know there's been a smoking ban but I've read in loads of places that you can smoke only in private areas since the smoking ban and hotel rooms are classed as this. But I am wondering if this hotel has rooms that are smoking allowed? Some have said that alot of hotels have gone with the ban and just gotten rid of smoking rooms.
Oh and thats tobacco or cannabis, either is good.
Is there any other information anyone can give me on this? i.e. Cafes that having good smoking facilities?

I'm sorry but I can't really give you a good answer to your question since I don't actually live in the Netherlands anymore and I haven't been to Amsterdam in years. Your best bet is probably just to call or e-mail some hotels and ask them. If you get a room with a window that opens and you kinda blow the smoke outside you probably will be fine but I can't guarantee that. I'm pretty sure that the worst thing that could happen is you'll be asked to stop doing it. Most of the coffeeshops have good smoking facilities and you'll be fine smoking outside if the weather is nice (cannabis too)... Again, worst thing that could happen is you'll be asked to quit doing it but chances of that happening are quite slim. Just don't make a nuisance of yourself.

With regard to hotels, as was stated before you can call or e-mail the hotel and ask. Many hotels have smoking and non-smoking rooms but since the ban I forsee many hotel banning smoking completely.

Smoking is banned in all restaurants/bars. Some clubs have complied with the law and designated a smoking room. I know the Sugar Factory and MelkWeg have once such room. Beyond that I'm not sure.

Coffeeshops (where one would smoke weed) is treading a fine line. It's been said that they will allow pure marijuana joints and bong hits to be smoked and nothing mixed w/ tobacco as was the habit. So yea smoking is still allowed in that respect.

I think your question should be:

Which hotels and bars have smoking rooms.
Smoking is banned, yes, except in special smoking rooms.

You will not get service there, but you can smoke.

Many of the larger hotels are bound to have one, but which ones have one, which ones are building one - that i don`t know.

With bars it is the same.
The larger pubs will have a smoking room, and the smaller ones probably not.
As it is currently nice wheather, a terrace is still more or less a designated smoking area.

If you wish to smoke an ' enhanced cigarette ' (weed!) - then take care, as in smoking rooms and on terraces you will not be welcomed with those. Stick to the coffeeshop, or some less public place.

This is a tricky one :0)

The Tulip Hotel West (where they booked you originally) clearly warns on the booking sites that it is completely no-smoking from 01/April this year http://www.booking.com/hotel/nl/tiamsterdamcw.en.html

However the one in the centre doesn't have the same warning and offers "non-smoking rooms" which to be insinuates that there are then of course smoking rooms as well, BUT it does mention that
"All Public and Private spaces non-smoking" (same warning on the one for the West as well) http://www.booking.com/hotel/nl/gtacentreadam.en.html

One step further on their own website for this hotel in the FAQ section there is a question saying that you can request a non-smoking room but there is no guarantee on availability http://www.goldentulipamsterdamcentre.com/frequently-asked-questions.41413.aspx

Therefore this would insinuate again to me that within the confines of your hotel room in this hotel, you are indeed able to smoke at least tobacco. Regarding cannabis - well that I'm never sure of (I don't stay in hotels in Amsterdam for obvious reasons and not a smoker). I know from reading other posts that some hotels turn a blind eye, but this was before the smoking ban was rolled out on 01/Jul

Therefore I think the only way to be sure is to give them a quick ring in advance. They are used to questions like this, so it's not a problem :0)

Sorry if it's not a really helpful answer, but anyway, enjoy your stay!
