Amsterdam airport?

I will be traveling from MSP to Cairo Egypt in August. I am supposed to spend around 10-12 hours in Amsterdam airport. What kinds of things can I do there? Btw, Im 18 years old.(male) also, i heard that i can check in to a hotel connected to AMS for a few euros and take a nap and shower. Is this true?

Schiphol is like a mall. Sometimes it contains museum exhibits. You have the time to spend a little in Amsterdam. Not sure about the hotel thing.
