The Red Light District is actually a square block building that has rooms in it. Each room has a see through door and a window. A girl sits on a chair in front of each door and someone can go to what ever door and 'spend time' with the girl. It's called the right light district because above each door is a red light. I was in Amsterdam with friends and we went to see exactly what the red district was. I've never seen anything like it before. Hope that helped.

I was in Amsterdam this past November and while in the district it was noticed that some of the sex workers, that is what they are called, were set up in little shops that had curtains or shades open enough to allow passerby to see the worker sitting on a chair or sofa wearing a negligee. What was kind of surprising was that the first one that we encountered was nestled between a Chinese Restaurant and a flower shop. Although most were in a particular area some were placed in surprising areas.
