I'm feeling a little overwhelmed as we are preparing to travel to Europe for a month with our 9 month old son. I require some much needed suggestions on the following:
1. What do I pack for the babies carry on as well as his luggage? We will be in the UK in May thru to June and I know the weather can sometimes be tricky. This trip is already costing us a fortune and I don't want to have to buy everything that we have forgotten. 2. Formula and Food- Should I take enough formula with me to last the 4 weeks or should I risk trying something there? 3-4 cans just seem like a alot to carry on top of everything else. I also currently make the babies food (I puree and then freeze). How should I pack these items and do I bring extra? 3. Do I bring a travel highchair/booster seat? 4. Any suggestions for a really good umbrella stroller? We're looking at the Maclaren or the Silver Cross. Both are not cheap and we're looking for a comparable product that won't cost alot. HELP!!!!!!! |

Don't pack extra diapers .. just pack enough for the trip. You can buy the rest there.
Pack clothes for hot and cold weather. Yes, pack enough formula to last the entire trip. You don't want to force him to adjust to new food over there. (although, don't worry about the jarred food. you can buy that over there .. just don't switch formula) I would purchase a booster seat over there .. that way you don't have to carry it on the plane. |

Hello,
Traveling with a 6 month old or older baby/toddler is not fun because they always want down to play. Bring: Toys (stroller kind) I love the Zooper Stroller as well as Maclaren there both great. You should check out rentals why you are there. That way you dont have to spend the extra $72 or so just to bring something else on the plane. I am sure it is fine to go to a grocery store and buy formula as that is what the other moms do. Just make sure it is an actual grocery store not a corner store. ~~~~~Also you may not know this but you can not bring carry on for baby unless you pay for a ticket for the baby as well. I was in for a suprise when I ended up paying $200 for babies carry ons. Dont forget baby needs a pass port as well. |

As far as diapers, pack just enough for the trip and a bit extra. There are diapers over there so you can get it there. As far as clothes, think of layering. So pack onesies and sleepers, and sweatshirts with hoods. That way you're prepared for all weather and you don't have to pack a lot of bulky clothes. For food, it's going to be a big hard to pack frozen foods to last 4 weeks. You may want to go ahead and just buy jarred food there too. Plus, if you've been giving your baby solids for a while, it's time to try some table food that's not too complicated in terms of ingredients (like mashed potatoes, bread, bananas, etc).
I suggest getting the Maclaren volo umbrella stroller. it's a great sturdy stroller. Don't get a cheap $15 ones that will break on you. I have a Maclaren volo that we purchased when my family traveled to Disney World and it was awesome - easy to fold, easy to carry and light. I wouldn't worry about a high-chair or booster. you can just sit your baby in the stroller and feed while buckled there. |
