I just got back from my 1st plane trip. I have a few questions. How was I able to get eyedrops on the plane without them being in the zip lock bag? I forgot I had them in there and nobody said a word even at security checkpoints. The lady next to me was large and her seat belt wouldn't fasten (too small) so she fastened it behind her and went without one. Could she have gotten a belt extender? I'm just wondering.

the eyedrops: you just got lucky, security scans don't spot stuff like that 100%
fat lady: ive never seen anyone to fat for the belts, but since seatbelts are manditory the crew should have made a solution (like belt extender) but again.. the crew doesn't spot this at 100% |

It's ok to have liquids as a carry-on as long as it's 3oz or less. You can also have those tiny shampoos, toothpaste, etc as carry-ons. You don't have to have them in a zip-lock bag, but they will provide them at the security stations if you want one. People like to put them in zip-lock bags so that security doesn't have to rifle through all their stuff. The airline will provide seat belt extenders if needed, but the patron usually has to call ahead and inform the airline of any special needs.
