Default WHEEL CHAIR SERVICE DURING AIR TRAVEL?

Right now I am at USA. I am bringing my mother from my country Nepal to USA. My mother is old & completely illiterate. If I can not find any friend for her, can I depend on wheel chair service she may get during flight? how to request this service? where and with whom to request this service? what kind of help she can get with this service?

Get in touch with the airline & explain your Mothers circumstances & see what they say

You can request this service when you make the reservations for her. Be sure and tell the agent that she is illiterate so no one will depend on her following written instructions. Also tell the agent what language(s) she speaks. Agents will assist her at connections. They will meet her flights and take her to her next flight and give her whatever assistance that she needs.

Regards,
Dan

The airlines will help as much as they can. However, they will not lift her. If she is as infirm as you indicate, it would be best for you to go and get her if no one else can come from Nepal, who would need a visa etc.

It's better to contact the airline in advance to request wheelchair assistance - it's free of charge and someone will push her if you can't at either end - ask the airline if they will seat you together; they also want to know if you will be taking your own wheelchair or need to borrow one from the airport. I travel with my son who's a wheelchair user with no mobility at all and find the airlines are always very helpful.
