Pisa airport is about 1km south of the town of Pisa. There is a railway station there with trains to Florence 80km away and Pisa. You can also catch buses to Pisa and Florence there. The bus to Pisa centre costs €0.95

Pisa airport is about a Kilometer away from pisa which is about 2/3 of a mile. it is walkable, you have to go through pisa to get to the train station. Pisa is not very big and you can walk everywhere. Get a regional train to florence, they are cheaper than the trenitalia trains they just take longer. Its only about an hour train ride. Have a great time!

There are some trains that depart from the railway station inside the airpot. (use "Pisa Aeroporto" as departure station in fare and timetable search at
http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=ad1ce14114bc9110VgnVCM10000080 a3e90aRCRD
)

Some of them even go directly to Florence without change.

The various options are

*direct train from "Pisa Aeroporto" to Florence
*take a train fromPisa Aeroporto to Pisa Centrale and than take a train from Pisa Centrale to Florence (the search on the trenitalia web site will calculate the connection for you)
*take a bus from Pisa aeroporto to the main railway station Pisa Centrale and then take a train from there to Florence
*take a bus from Pisa to Florence direct (by Terravision)

If you need to buy a train ticket at the airport, you can have one at the information office, inside the airport.

The whole journey on train cost 5.60 eur (which seems to be the cheapest option)

If you need to take a bus from the airport to Pisa central railway station (ife at that time there are no trains from the airpot) you shuld take bus line number 1 (the red one) during day or line number 21 during night

I suppose that the ticket for this nus is 1.00 eur.

Pisa definitively worth a visit.

The only problem is where to store your luggage . (I have no information about luggage store, may be there is one in the main railway station, but I do not know where to get information about that).

You can also stop in Pisa on your way back (perhaps this make more sense if your main destination is Florence, but of course this also depends on the timetable of the flights.)

Pisa and Florence are two different towns. Pisa has an international airport served by Ryanair, Florence has not. In the airport there is a station (Pisa Aeroporto) where you can take a train to Pisa (Pisa Centrale). It takes few minutes.
From Pisa you can easy reach Florence by train (it takes an hour). Pisa is a nice town, but you can visit everything in one day. Florence is bigger and offers more interesting things. You could book a hotel in Florence, stay there some days in Florence and visit it thorough, and see also Pisa when you arrive (or when you start).
