Etihad Airways has a nice $1020 r/t total airfare JFK-BOM via Abu Dhabi currently. Air India is next-cheapest on your dates at $1151; Continental (also nonstop) is $1259 currently. http://www.etihadairways.com

Consolidators have the Etihad flight for less. Globester.com has it for $981 total, for example; Vayama.com has it for $975 r/t total.
