I purchased r-t same day travel airfare on a top 5 carrier to attend my childs high school graduation. I drove 160 miles to catch an early flight. While making a connection in a major city....there became a problem with my boarding pass. They put me on a flight to another city. I noticed the problem shortly after boarding....ended up missing the original flight and two additional flights to my destination that would have allowed me to attend my childs 2 pm ceremony.
The earliest I could get to my destination was 5:40pm. My return flight was scheduled to for 7pm. Needless to say...it was worthless, so I asked for the next flight home. Believe it or not,....I didn't have a fit or express my anger, but I was very disappointed after supervisor got involved and told me "We really screwed this up for you....we are to blame." I did get a $15 meal voucher and refund for flight. Before writing the airlines, I feel like asking for the world,,, what do you think is fair compensation for ordeal |

I´m very sorry that you missed your child's graduation ceremony.. the airline that you flew has to be a joke, and the supervisor that was to help didn´t do anything to make sure you got to your destination on time... and to give you a $15 meal voucher , what a joke..
I am truly sorry.... Sincerely, Bcn_mimosa From Barcelona, Spain |

That's too bad that you missed the graduation ceremony but I don't understand how you got on a flight to the wrong city. OK so there was an error with your boarding pass but didn't you notice the board, the one that says "Flight 901 Houston"? The announcements "now boarding at gate 5, Flight 901 with direct service to Houston" (or whatever)?
It seems to me that every time I fly, the destination of the plane is pretty apparent before I board. I understand that there are times when we are stressed or rushed at airports but it seems strange that it could happen. So in the absence of further details, I'd say that they erred but so did you. For compensation I'm not sure they owe you much, maybe you could ask for a ticket to fly out to see your child? |
