What are the new carry on restrictions for air travel within the US?

Can my husband carry on his hair dryer and prescription medication? Can he still carry shampoo and deorderant if its less than 3 oz. We havent flown since 2002. He will only be gone 2 days, so he only wants to take a carry on and is there a size limit on the size of his carry on? Thank You.
