I am getting a puppy at the end of May but I have to go to Victoria, BC (from Calgary) for 1 1/2 days in June when the pup will be about 9 or 10 weeks old.
The flight is about an hour and half and was wondering if I should fly the pup out with me or leave it at home and have some one come in to take care of it while I am away. I am not even sure if you can fly a pup that young? I need help! Thanks |

Some airlines will let you take a dog with you in a carrier under the seat in front of you if it weighs less than 15 lbs. Probably though the pup will need a tranquilizer and that might not be an option for you.
If you have someone you REALLY trust you can leave it at home. Or you can board the dog if you can't find anyone. Those are your options! |

Puppies are very resiliant. It'll be a good experience for your puppy. Better to indroduce him to things at an early age, seeing as they are curious and eager to learn :]
And yes, you can fly a puppy that young. At 7 weeks, puppies are able to leave their mother and enter a new home... at 8 weeks their aloud to be flown to their new home. When I picked up my puppy at 9 weeks old, she was in the car with me on the way home longer than your pup will be in the plane... I drove 10 hours back home with my pup. To this day she loves car rides. Good luck Enjoy your trip :D |
