You actually don't even need an ID currently. They will up the amount of security that you go through and search everything you bring but it can be done. I would just plan on it taking longer to get through security and everything. I would still bring an ID because they probably won't even check the date it expired.

NO. "All passengers 18 and older are required to present valid and unexpired government-issued photo identification (federal, state or local). For example: driver’s license or passport. All customers must carry government-issued identification with them at all times and may be asked to show identification during boarding.

If you do not have government-issued photo identification, two forms of identification are required:

1. Non-photo government identification. For example: a voter registration card or social security card.
2. Credit card or birth certificate

Customers without proper identification may be subject to additional security screening procedures."

My wife is an airline CSA.

Without a valid ID, you won't even get a boarding pass at the counter.

Unfortunately, you cannot. You need a unexpired government-issued Identification Card when you check in and for some cases, when you board the plane.

Well, no because they won't even let your thorough or even get a boarding pass. Besides, you need an ID ANYWHERE you go!
