First, I don't accept the premise of your question that refers to "global warming". If you follow it closely, they have now changed to "climate change" so any variance can be attributed to humans. The reality is that the average temperature has risen 1 degree in 100 years, until last year. It has been so cold last year that the average has almost lost that 1 degree increase. Listen closely to the "fix" which is to destroy capitalism. Sure there is a "consensus" of so called scientists that agree global warming is a problem. Remember, a group of scientists believed that the world was flat. Consensus isn't scientific evidence. I'll wait until we have real research and valid scientific conclusions before I go back to the stone age.
As for the other part of your question look at driving cars. Sure people complain about the high price of gas. But, have you driven less in the last year? We are consuming the same amount of gas even with the higher prices. So, we will still fly when necessary. And for recreational pilots (like me) we'll continue to fly for fun.
There is a "bio jet" that runs on vegetable oil. The L-29 will be at Airventure this year. Maybe we should convert all our Airlines to bio fuel. They can serve fried food on the flights and use the waste for fuel.
P.S. If algore's movie (An inconvenient truth) is shown in British schools, they must disclose 9 errors in the film!
