International tourist arrivals increased considerably from 85,000 in 1995 to more than a 250,000 in recent years. The figures for 1995 and 1996 centre around 300,000 incoming international tourists. The majority of the international travellers are leisure tourists (including travellers who visit friends and relatives) but a substantial portion consist of business travellers. Interregional travel within Africa is important and expanding as well as the number of international tourists from Europe, North America and Asia.
Tourism projections for 2007 were 1,000,000 visitors generating USD1.5 billion revenue.
