I am South African living in the UK and I always go back for holidays in February as that is when it is the hottest and the weather is the best. Its also good because the schools have gone back so there arent so many tourists therefore air tickets are cheaper. Hope that helps :)

September to March is warmest, But December is Holiday Season so best to be avoided as prices go through the roof & everywhere is overpopulated by holidaymakers & their families or annoying school CHILDREN on break behaving like village idiots especially at the beaches. SunCity is good to visit year round but also gets Invaded by school leavers/goers early December. I suggest you avoid holiday Season & August - August is Windy & September is Wet with the Start of the summer rain. Most Places in Gauteng in January are crying for business as all the locals head to the sea for December. The coast is best avoided over December & Jan & returns to NORMAL in Feb.

Depends on what you want to do. Hit the beach - go end of January to February. Go on Safari - May to end of August is good. Shopping spree - anytime you like.
What's also important is where you want to go. If you're going to the Western Cape (Cape Town area) it's best to avoid going in winter, as it's rainy season. Port Elizabeth and the Eastern Cape area is best avoided by those who don't like windy days. Durban and the KwaZulu Natal coastal areas are not for those who don't like humid weather. But this area provides the best swimming experience in the country. Best go around the end of January to February. To be avoided from November to middle January - student and scholar peak season. The Northern Cape is excellent for flower lovers - go somewhere in September or October and take lots of suntan lotion! Whenever you go, and whatever you do, make sure you enjoy it!!! |

Depends where you're going... there are some places that get extremely hot or cold, but for the most part the weather isn't too bad all year round.
Cape Town: summer - hot & windy / winter - cool & rainy Durban: summer - hot, humid & rainy / winter - cool Not sure about the rest of the country really, but inland gets very hot & very cold during different seasons. Its a beautiful country, would recommend Cape Town... Hope you have a wonderful trip!!!! |
