Did the 7th Panzer actually travel with Rommel for the North Africa campaign?

the 7th Panzer was deployed in France. After that they were absorbed into the 21st Panzer, which was a larger unit that was depolyed in Africa by Rommel

I believe Manteuffel commanded the 7th Rifle Regiment of the 7th Panzer, even though the 7th no longer had any tanks, the rest of the Division remained (7th Rifles, 7th Grenadier, etc). It's a bit confusing, but that's war for ya.

No, the Panzer divisions associated with Rommel in North Africa were the 15th and the 21st (originally in North Africa as the 5th Light Division)

The 7th Panzer division, Rommel's command in France, went to Russia.

I definitely have 7th Panzer in Russia in 1941.
"In June, 1941, Manteuffel took part in Operation Barbarossa where he commanded a battalion in the 7th Panzer Division. On 27th November he was awarded the Knight's Cross for capturing a key bridge on the outskirts of Moscow"
21st panzer did not exist at the beginning of the North African campaign. Tanks of the 5th light division arrived in Africa bearing symbols of the *3rd* panzer division.
