Absolutely, there is another alternative. The most preferred form of ID is obviously a drivers license or passport thats not expired, however you CAN bring your ss card and a credit/debit card. This posting below is from delta, and is NOT just for delta, it is for every airport. I flew to Denver and back out and used those 2 forms of ID with no problem. You will more than likely have to go through special screening, which basically means you get your carry on rummaged through with this wand thing and you go through a puffer machine, it tests for bombs or something... but you should be just fine. Just make sure you let them know at check in that your using those forms of ID and they'll direct you in the right way.
