Default I'm looking to travel next week but don't have a photo ID and need one ASAP what do I do?

and i'm leaving from LAX and they said if you are over 18 you need a "government-issued photo I.D." now I lost my California ID card...and I know it takes weeks to get one, is there any other alternative?

Why would it take two weeks to get an ID? A non-driver's or driver's license ID can be replaced on the spot in NY. Your photo is in the database. How about a sheriff's ID?

call your nearest DMV tell them you need an ID
they will tell you what you need to bring with you
usually takes an hour or so if they are busy

There are one day passport services. They cost a little bit more.

You can bring a passport or if you dont have one, you should bring a copy of the police report that will certify that you lost your state ID and you should have an ID (examples are your SS ID, company ID, etc.). It will be much better to call the airlines and you will be given all the information that you need. You can also call TSA at 1-866-289-9673

Absolutely, there is another alternative. The most preferred form of ID is obviously a drivers license or passport thats not expired, however you CAN bring your ss card and a credit/debit card. This posting below is from delta, and is NOT just for delta, it is for every airport. I flew to Denver and back out and used those 2 forms of ID with no problem. You will more than likely have to go through special screening, which basically means you get your carry on rummaged through with this wand thing and you go through a puffer machine, it tests for bombs or something... but you should be just fine. Just make sure you let them know at check in that your using those forms of ID and they'll direct you in the right way.

What You'll Need
The documentation you'll need will vary depending on your destination.

Within the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico
Select from the following:

One unexpired form of local or federal government-issued photo id, such as:
Passport
Driver's License
Military ID
Or two unexpired forms of non-photo id—one must be issued by a state or federal agency.
