In July the temperatures are hot. They average around 32°C (89°F). The weather is nice for swimming and it is easy to get a tan. There is high humidity though, so make sure you pack a sunscreen that is water/sweat proof!
Weather Underground will search historical database for weather conditions in past years. The results will help you plan accordingly telling you how hot, cold, wet or windy it will be. http://www.wunderground.com/tripplanner/index.asp Another fun site to view is: http://www.weather2travel.com/climate-guides/index.php?destination=hammamet It gives the averages on different things from outside temperature to Sea temperature to hours of sunlight and more for different parts of Tunisia. Temperatures are listed in Celsius, but to view them in Fahrenheit, just hover your mouse over the temperature you would like to see. Hammamet is pretty relaxed, and quiet. It is divided into two parts: The old city, and the new touristic city (called Yasmine Hammamet). The old city has it's charm because it has a nice medina and the city itself is wonderful to explore. Yasmine Hammamet is where most of the hotels are, and there is also an amusement park, restaurants and golf courses in Yassmine Hammamet as well. Here are websites that you may find useful (the last link will also give you links to various hotels): http://www.portyasmine.com.tn/English/index2.html http://www.carthageland.com:82/eng/home.htm http://www.yasmine.com.tn/anglais/Welcome.html A lot of the hotels offer many fun activities, most for a minimal price. Most hotels will also offer you a chance to take an excursion to see other cities and sights. You will be able to choose from some of the most popular places to visit, such as: *the multiple Star Wars filming locations *Toezer -famous for it's use of yellow bricks and a filming location for The English Patient *Matmata -a UNESCO world heritage site preserved for it's underground houses *the Sahara *Carthage -the former capital of the ancient world *El Jem -houses the largest in tact Roman Coliseum outside of Italy One of the most popular discos in Hammamet is Calypso. http://www.calypsotunisia.com/ The hotels also have discos inside them and they are usually quite good. If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me. |

It's gorgeous!
I haven't been there in July, but I'm sure you'll love it. The last time I was there was in December, it was sooo great I'm still trying to get over it ; ) Weather here in Syria is similar to Tunisia all year long, so my summer advice to you would be: Tan early and late, swim or siesta around noon, and do NOT miss a single evening walk, there is nothing like beach summer nights. It might not be bad to switch your biological clock to sleep all day instead if you find it too hot for you. As for hotels, I would recommend Sofitel, but I'm sure the others are good too. |
