Well that depends. If you're a South African living abroad and just going on holiday then yes you should renew your passport in order to stay in the country you going back to. But if you are not a South African citizen and you are going to South Africa on holiday then no you don't need to because your passport will still be valid.
Come to think of it, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months if I remember correctly. Best to contact the embassy. Enjoy your holiday in sunny South Africa :) |

You should be okay. If I remember correctly, your passport should have 6 months on it. Phone and find out to make absolutely sure. You definitely dont want to get stuck in SA because of it. To get your passport renewed from there will take 6 weeks, and cost a lot more.

You don't need to renew your passport.
The South African Immigration Act states in paragraph 9.(4) (a): A foreigner may only enter the Republic — by producing to an immigration officer his or her passport to be valid for no less than 30 days after the expiry of the intended stay http://www.home-affairs.gov.za/documents/act13-02_x.pdf [see page 13] However I recommend to renew it before 3rd September 2009. You will get a new U.K. passport valid until 21st April 2020 and you save £5.50 since the passport fee will be increased.. |
