As a gr.10 student where can I find an organization where i can travel to Africa and help poor families?

I am really interested in helping make the world a better place so i was wondering if there were any organizations that would let a group of students travel to Africa (or another poverty stricken place) for maybe 1 or 2 weeks. If i can find information I could run the program through the school and be ready to travel possible by next summer. I live in Ontario, Canada.

You can look on the Myanmar country's website and you will see plenty of opportunities to go there and AID them. Unfortunately, I cannot find anything for poverty stricken Africa. I'm sorry.

You could try searching for Christian organizations. They are more likely to take kids on short term missions than a government group. However, I'll give you some advice. I felt the same way you do when I was in 10th grade, but honestly, short-term work doesn't do much at all. Africa needs a revival in its economy and an end to the corruption, and spending a month in Africa won't do as much good as you staying at home and getting some extra education. I imagine the short term stuff just makes everyone angry.

Keep the faith, however. It has been about 5 years since I wanted to go on a mission and I am hopefully on my way to medical school, where it will be another 7 years, but I plan on spending my life in Africa. Dream big, and rise above this cushy life we Westerners have. There are children dying there, and something needs to be done. Your big heart is one giant step in the right direction.
