Default How can i prepare formula when travelling out and about? Also can i leave the bottles in the steriliser?

I usaully wash the bottles and sterilise them, then i leave them in the steriliser until i make a feed of 1 bottle and leave the rest in the steriliser for later on in the day.
Is it ok?
Also if i want to travel on a plane how do you store and heat up the milk. In other words how do you prepare it?

I'm not sure about leaving the bottle in the sterilizer. I sterelize my baby's bottle, then dry them up and keep them in an airtight container.

And as for preparing milk while in a journey, I usually scoop the formula in the bottle [according to the measurement]. Then I just chuck the bottle in my hand luggage. When I want to feed my baby, I just ask the flight crew for some hot water. If it's a long journey, prepare more than 1 bottle.

Or if you breastfeed, ask for a window seat, preferrably with your partner sitting beside you. Basically just a seat where you're out of the views of other passenger, and feed your baby. I did that once, but I usually prepare the bottle as there's no guarantee there'll be window seats available etc.

i wouldnt leave the bottle in the sterilizer all day, sterlize just before you need them!
as for travelling on a plane i would take ready make cartons of formula! they are ready to drink! and they dont need to be chilled or heated up! they are ideal for when your out and about ! xx
all the best

I wouldn't leave it in a sterilizer all day but like the others said, either ready made bottles, they come in 4 and 8 oz they are very easy to use and your regular bottle lid will screw right on. if you are on a plane and want to heat up breast milk I have found it easy to ask for a big cup of hot water and i put the bottle in the water for a while and Wa-la breast milk for baby! Good luck!

When my kids were little babies, I frequently travelled - and on planes and in airports, I did not feel comfortable breast feeding. In preparation for those trips, I would buy the individual plastic bottles prefilled with prepared formula. They are small, I think 2 or 3 ounces. Then I would take sterilized nipples and rings in a sealed ziploc bag (and another bag to keep the used ones in). (or you can buy sterile, disposable nipples and rings) That way you don't have to keep the formula cold (it is sealed and ready to use - just throw away any leftovers). This is expensive, but very easy. It is hard enough travelling with an infant, this way you don't have to worry about refrigeration and reheating. If you can't find the little bottles in the store, try the manufacturer's website. Good luck.

I normally breastfeed my baby but I recently had to travel overseas and was nervous about not being able to produce under stress etc. so I bought "ready to feed infant formula" (Similac). I bought the nipples and all and just discarded the bottle once I was done. I carried about 4 bottles with me just in case and had no problem bringing them on the plane.
P.S. Don't forget to feed your baby during takeoff and landing. It really helps your child. Good luck!

When I recently flew I took a thermos full of hot water. Worked wonderfully and the security people usually wont give you much of a problem since they see you traveling with a baby. Good Luck!
