You won't have a problem. I've lived here for 13 years and the really rainy season is September and October. You might have the usual summer tropical rains, where it'll rain hard for about 30 minutes, then the sun comes back out and it's steamy hot all evening.

It's not the prime time to travel down here, not because it's hurricane season, but because it's the rainy season. The chances of a hurricane occuring while you're visiting here is slim. It does rain every day here, usually around 1 or so, the sky turns black, severe lightening, thunder..it rains for an hour, and by 3-4:00, you can head back out. The day is never lost because of steady rainfall, but it can interrupt your day, especially if you're hanging at the beach.
