Default Does advertising South Africa on Sky TV in the U.K. as a safe and vibrant travel destination amount to fraud..

on the part of the South African government?

Actually their advert has changed, first screen used to say"South Africa Its impossible" 2nd screen "South Africa Its possible" (they crossed out the "im")

Now they only sow "South Africa Its possible" I commented to a guy at DTI about what a DUMB advert the first one was and he said they spent millions on it. Anyway now its a short version just before the weather inserts.

All it shows is beads in the form of the SA flag. So they arent really promising anything ... maybe its just to remind the veiwers that SA still exsists???

I think the travel channel stories on SA are great, but really the presenters are idiots ... cooking food in townships showing that SA is one happy hunky dory place. They dont show the paid gaurds who are protecting them

Yes, I often see Tourism SA flogging South Africa as The Destination.
Without a doubt they too have blood on their hands!

Do they really do that? Man thats scary. And people wonder why people from overseas are so ignorant... I do think it is fraud and the government should be held responisble for any deaths as a result.. but wait... they arent responsible for ANYTHING wahahaha

I also have another problem, and its with Hollywood. Ill post the question now and +add+ the link..

They are planning on putting posters with similar shite in the London Cabbies but ask yourself is there any crime the ANC are NOT capable of. Not everyone believes them and I can tell you that many, many British people wouldnt dream of going to South Africa because of the horrendous crime. Many have returned after being victims with their own tales to tell and word of mouth/personal experience is better than any false advertising. Maybe I will report Sky to the Bureau of Advertising Standards or the Human Rights watchbody and try and get it removed. Next year is the big one when we will be making a concerted effort prior to the World Cup to warn ALL supporters of Football Clubs here to stay well away. If we wreck their hopes of making money at the expense of innocent victims it will have been a job well done.
