I hate that the passenger is being nickel and dimed for everything. However as passengers we are always asking for super cheap airfare even when the price of fuel was over $145 some time ago. Someone once asked on Yahoo Answers to help them find a flight from New Jersey to Jamaica for under $200 on a last minute flight. As passengers we do have a right to good service and to be brought back to the airport if there will be significant delays.

I don't think air travel will be like the 1950s when people dressed up to fly. But some airlines do offer pretty good service. For example Singapore Airlines has won numerous awards for in-flight service.
